Flexible PCB

Flexible printed circuit boards, also called Flexible PCBs or Flex PCBs, derive their name for their ability to enable the circuitry to be designed to fit the electronic device or product, as opposed to building the device to conform to the circuit board. Flex circuit boards are characterized by a distinctly patterned printed circuitry and component arrangement highlighted by a malleable base material.

Flexible pcb board is used widely in everyday technology and electronics in addition to high-end, complex completed components.

Flexible circuits are also used extensively in other applications and industries including:
• Communications
• Consumer Electronics
• Automotive
• Medical
• Industrial
• Aerospace
• Military
• Transportation

In transportation they are extensively used due to their improved resistance to vibrations and movement.

Flexible printed circuit boards offer a number of potential benefits including:

• Saving Space. Flex PCB design requires only about 10 percent of the space and weight of an ordinary circuit board assembly, offering greater installation and packaging freedom. The inherent flexibility also permits tighter bend capabilities.
• Maximum Reliability. A flexible printed circuit board requires fewer interconnects, which in turn requires fewer contact crimps, connectors and solder joints. Simply put, a flexible PCB board does not contain as many potential sources for failure, which enhances their reliability.
• Enhanced Capabilities. The flexible printed circuits boards are compatible with virtually any type of connector or component and works well with options such as ZIP connectors. They also perform extremely well in extreme temperatures and offer superior resistance to radiation and chemicals.
• Cost Savings. Cost-saving advantages of Flexible PCBs include reduced material and packaging demands, lower parts replacement costs and assembly errors that could result in the need for repairs.

These benefits make flex PCBs ideally fit for a wide range of applications in industries such as Military, Transportation, Medical, Consumer Electronics, Automotive, Aerospace, Communications and Industrial.

Flexible Printed Circuit Boards are one of the most popular types of circuit boards used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications. At Eolane SCM, we manufacture flexible printed circuits keeping the needs of our customers in mind. Our circuit boards provide quality and durable performance while being cost-effective in terms of manufacturing.

  1. Panelization is the future of Printed circuit boards. I will be sharing your article with my colleagues as it will help them immensely. As for me, I get the boards from a flex pcb manufacturer in Canada for my basic requirements.

Semi-Flex PCB

Semi flex PCB  is a flex-rigid PCB, typically 4 layers, made entirely of FR4. Unlike conventional flex-rigid PCBs, the flexing element is not polyimide but a thin FR4 core with two layers of copper specially treated to flex without cracking. A less robust solution uses a depth-milled layer rather than a core. While this type of flexible circuit may be more expensive to design and produce, it does offer a number of important advantages. For instance, the reduced size makes it easier to fit more components into a smaller space. This can actually help to lower overall system costs. Additionally, because they require the need for fewer interconnects and related parts and components, these flexible circuit board can also prove to be more reliable and require less maintenance in the long run. As with all types of flexible circuit boards, the semi flexible PCB  will perform well in even the harshest environments, especially those featuring extreme heat. A semi-flex  boa...

IoT and Smart City: éolane and the Chinese town of Dongguan Sign a Strategic Partnership

Recently, the Dongguan Chinese delegation signed a cooperative agreement with éolane, paving the way for a partnership between the municipality and the group to work together on a smart city project. The agreement was signed at the éolane headquarters in the Maine & Loire, in a friendly atmosphere, followed by a site visit and a photo session. The day continued with a visit to the IoT City in Angers, of which there has been a replica in Suzhou, near éolane China subsidiary, since April 2016. Emilie Blanchon, business manager for éolane Supply Chain Management in China , participated in the success of the organisation of the meeting. She ensured the smooth unfolding of the event, especially in terms of protocol. A path for the development of joint projects Boosting cooperation between Chinese companies and éolane in Europe, this partnership is very promising for the development of new practices for emerging or well-established companies. It is a great opportunity to demonstrate...
